Refund & cancellation policy

Refunds, plainly.

When we refund, when we don't, how to cancel, and the statutory rights you have on top. Most of the time it just means "yes".

The short version. Building on Blinki is free — you pay nothing until you publish, and owe nothing if you never do. Once you're subscribed, cancel any time and you won't be billed again, though we don't refund the part-month you've already paid for. Built-for-you deposits cover work that starts straight away, so they're non-refundable — but if you're a consumer, your statutory cooling-off rights still apply. Nothing here affects your legal rights.

1. Building for free

You can build a site on Blinki for free, with no card required and no time limit. While your site is unpublished you're never charged, so there's nothing to refund. If you never publish, nothing happens automatically and you owe us nothing.

2. Monthly & annual subscriptions

You can cancel a subscription at any time from your dashboard.

  • Monthly plans: cancelling stops the next payment. Your site stays live until the end of the month you've already paid for, then closes. We don't refund the unused part of the current month.
  • Annual plans: these run until the end of the paid year. You can turn off auto-renewal at any time so you're not charged again. We don't provide partial refunds for the remaining months of an annual term except where the law requires it (see section 5) or where we've clearly failed to provide the service.
  • If we ever get a payment wrong — for example a duplicate charge or a billing error on our side — we'll put it right and refund it in full.

3. Add-ons: domains, email & phone numbers

  • Domains are registered in your name with a third-party registrar. Once a domain is registered the registration fee is spent and can't be recovered, so domains are non-refundable. The domain remains yours to keep or transfer away.
  • Business email inboxes and phone numbers are billed per cycle. Cancel to stop future charges; the current cycle isn't refunded once it's started.
  • Any third-party fee we've already paid on your behalf (for example a domain registration or a number port-in) is non-recoverable and non-refundable.

4. Built-for-you projects & deposits

Built-for-you projects are governed by the separate quote you sign, which sets out the price, deposit and what's included. In summary:

  • The deposit (50% of the project fee, plus the first cycle of any add-ons and any upfront third-party costs) is payable on signature. It's a genuine estimate of the cost of getting started, and it's non-refundable once we begin work — subject to your statutory rights in section 5.
  • The balance falls due when the site is accepted (or deemed accepted) as set out in your quote.
  • If you end a Built-for-you project early without cause, you pay for the work done and any third-party costs already committed, up to the total project fee. If we can't deliver what we agreed, we'll refund you fairly for what wasn't provided.

5. If you're a consumer: your statutory rights

If you're buying as an individual, outside a business, you have rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that this policy does not affect.

  • 14-day cooling-off period. You normally have 14 days to cancel a service bought online.
  • If you asked us to start straight away. When you agree to a Built-for-you quote you're asked to confirm that you want us to begin work and supply the digital content immediately. If you tick that and then cancel within the 14 days, you'll pay a proportionate amount for the work already done (and the digital content already supplied can't be cancelled) — the deposit is otherwise non-refundable. This is your choice, clearly flagged before you sign.
  • If you did not ask us to start straight away. You can cancel within the 14 days and receive a refund, less any third-party costs we've already had to pay that can't be recovered.
  • If something's wrong. If a service isn't carried out with reasonable care and skill, or digital content is faulty, you're entitled to have it put right, or to a price reduction, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

6. Blinki Flex

Blinki Flex is pay-monthly finance for a Built-for-you website, available to UK limited companies only, and is governed by your signed finance agreement. The deposit secures your build and is non-refundable once work has begun. Monthly instalments spread the remaining cost. If you cancel the Direct Debit before the balance is cleared, the full outstanding balance becomes payable. Full detail is on the Blinki Flex terms page.
